Welcome, Choristers!
Music Sunday will be pre-recorded for live stream broadcast on Sunday June 14.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to participate as fully as possible by lending your voices to a number of songs that you will find on this page, with accompaniments and parts.
Please participate in as many, or as few, projects as your available time permits.
Please reach out to me if you need assistance.
Files to help you with your recordings will be posted on this page.
UPLOAD YOUR FILES TO THIS LINK:
1. Sing to the World a New Song (Joy to the World)
We sang this song as our Advent introit. I have taken the key up to D from C and split the parts into SATB, so please take a look at the score:
To help you with the parts, I have separated them out as soprano, alto, tenor and bass MP3s. Just sing along with your own part. Recordings are PIANO only, no words. Please note there is only one set of words on the new score -- "hopeful joy." Through Advent we used alternative words. Just stick to the words on the score and you'll sing it right!
If you would like to sing the "Joy to the World" please do so in a SEPARATE recording. You are welcome to submit two recordings for this.
6. Go Down, Moses
We sang this song first on Blues Sunday and then again in November. Vicky Ellis sang the lead vocal and Carl Craven and Matthew Benedict provided layers of terrific trombone and soprano saxophone.
Here is the score. The choir parts are highlighted in yellow.
Here are the rehearsal parts:
8. Circle of Love
This song was our finale on Blues Sunday, with Delia Finney and Irene Stewart singing the solos. This is a very easy, repetitive chorus which I have now scored in SATB so you don't have to improvise! You will sing it through 5 times. The first and 5th time you will sing the words at a dynamic level of mf, and on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th times, you will just hum at a dynamic level of p to mp. The ukulele band will join us. Here is the score:
This song is SOOO relevant after the events of the past 2 weeks. Delia and I recorded this after Blues Sunday last summer in my studio -- but I will be re-working the solos for Music Sunday. I also hope to use video footage of the huge circle in the Sanctuary of people holding hands, as well as your videos of you singing.
Here are the rehearsal recordings (which you can sing along with while you record your voice.)
10. The Navy Hymn - tenors & basses
The ladies of the Womens Ensemble sang this song in the past, but I have always wanted to hear the tenors and basses sing it. So, here's your chance! It is challenging, and it will require some practice on your part. Please don't try to sing it after only listening to it once or twice. Imagine you have to come to choir practice and work hard on learning it for a number of weeks!
This is a rough Bron-demo of what it sounds like: The Navy Hymn
Here are the rehearsal recordings (which you can sing along with while you record your voice.)
Questions?
New members are warmly welcomed. This is a non-audition choir with singers of all levels, from beginners to professional level vocalists and instrumentalists.
