LYRICS

I have always believed that there's a man out there for me
Who could love me with a passion and want to stay with me
Well I'm a hard one to handle, I've got a strong creative drive
I work hard, and I'm a mother, and I love to be alive
I was looking for a man who wasn't going to make me blue
In my wildest dreams, in my wildest dreams
In my wildest dreams, honey, God created you.

Well I knew the day would come when I would finally set my eyes
On a man who knows the meanin' of lovin' compromise
The moment that I saw you and you looked at me that way
The sparks had started flyin', couldn't drag myself away
I knew you were the one for me, I knew that we'd be true
In my wildest dreams, in my wildest dreams
In my wildest dreams, honey, God created ...

You ignite in me a fire and I'm simmerin' inside
With confidence and self-esteem and love I cannot hide
My wildest dreams are images of where I wanna be
In your wildest dreams, darlin', do you dream of me? yeah yeah yeah

Well I know just where I'm goin' and you're right here by my side
We've got a lot of life to live, you're a man who knows his mind
Strong and so articulate, and you look so good to me
When you hold me in your arms my emotions set me free
I have never felt so focused on the things I wanna do
In my wildest dreams, in my wildest dreams
In my wildest dreams, honey, God created you,

THE STORY

This was my first attempt at writing a viable R&B tune. Inspired by a relationship that bore my musical passion to fruition, I reworked it with my producer, Maurice Jones Jr., and made some changes to our original version recorded by my band "Once." The result is a much more driving groove with the lady they are calling "Seattle's newest diva," Josephine Howell, taking the lead vocal away. Michael Matthews plays a great tenor saxophone solo, and my horn section, Justin Cottrell (tenor sax), Tony Grasso (trumpet) and Cliff Colon (baritone sax) created the "organized chaos" that I wanted in the outro. These guys sound like a bunch of cats jamming in an alley and we couldn't bear to fade it, it was such a great sound. Josephine and her friend Phyllis Talley added four-part backups to complete the song. "Wildest" was a wild ride in the studio.  I loved every minute of it!

For Seattleites who'd like to hear more of Josephine Howell, you can see her perform at McGowans Restaurant on Sunday evenings between 7 and 11 pm. Joined by keyboardist Paul Richardson and Michael Matthews on sax, the band plays a variety of R&B, funk, and jazz/blues. McGowans Restaurant & Lounge is located at 317 Main Ave South, Renton WA 98055.
